Step 5. Publishing the Video

In this section you can choose the publish format (SWF/FLV), add a navigation control and adjust some playback settings.

•	Select a publish format by clicking the Format listbox.

•	Select an output file path by clicking the Browse button.

•	Leaving the other settings as default, now you are ready to publish your video. Click the Publish button at the bottom right corner of the main window to publish.

Flash Video Studio will automatically show you a preview and a bandwidth profiler window during the publication. Go here to know more about the Bandwidth Profiler.

When the publishing process is finished, the Flash Video Studio will ask you to preview the output, to explore the output folder or to simply do nothing.

To save the project file, click the File - Save menu. You can open this project file in the future to publish the same video using the same settings.

Flash Video Studio also allows you to publish a draft version of your video by clicking the Publish a Draft toolbar button at the top of the main window. When publishing a draft, the Flash Video Studio will only publish 5 seconds of your movie. You can alter this settings from the Options - Preference menu.

•	When you are publishing a SWF file without HTML (Create HTML unchecked), to be able to preview the published output, you will need a default stand alone Flash Player installed such as a Macromedia Projector file. If you own a Macromedia Flash, you will automatically have it.

•	When you are publishing a SWF file with HTML (Create HTML checked), a default web browser will be used to preview your published video. In this case you don't need a stand alone Flash Player.

•	When you are publishing a FLV file, to be able to preview the published output, you will need an FLV player installed.

You can choose to publish a compressed/uncompressed SWF file by checking/unchecking the Compress SWF checkbox.

You can choose to create a HTML file automatically together with the published SWF file by checking/unchecking the Create HTML checkbox.

The HTML file will be saved using the same filename (with .HTML extension) on the same folder where your SWF file is published.

You can choose to upload the published output automatically to a FTP site after the publication by checking/unchecking the Upload to FTP checkbox.

Then click the FTP settings button to type in the address, username, password and click the Browse button to connect to the FTP site to select an upload folder.

When you are publishing a SWF file, you can decide whether you want a navigation control to be published together with your movie or not. The navigation control allows your movie audience to fast forward, rewind, drag video frame slider, adjust volume, play/pause, etc. To enable/disable the navigation control, check/uncheck the Have Control checkbox. You can select a various navigation controls by selecting the listbox next to Have Control checkbox.

You can further customize your navigation control by adding a preloader, changing button color and movie title. You can also hide/show a specific navigation control button such as fast forward, rewind, volume slider, etc by clicking the Customize More button.

You can make the movie to stop at the beginning, letting the users to press the Play button to start the movie manually. To do so, uncheck Start at the beginning checbox.

When you have the Start at the beginning checked, you can further decide how you want the movie to start by selecting the Starts listbox.

•	Starts when 5 seconds are loaded: Start as soon as 5 seconds worth of the movie is downloaded

•	Starts when entire movie is loaded: Start as soon as the entire movie is downloaded.

At the end of a movie playback, you can have three different actions to perform:

When you choose the Stop and open a webiste option, you can type in the website address and the target window.
